Saddleback gets earthquake ready

On Thursday, October 16, the state of California participated in the “The Great California Shakeout.” The Shakeout is an annual event that prepares and reminds the residents of California on how to deal with an earthquake in case of emergencies.

Schools, communities and workplaces have registered to practice earthquake safety at http://www.shakeout.org. There are over 10.4 million registered participants in the Shakeout.

To participate in the Shakeout everyone performs the basics of earthquake safety. This includes practicing the “drop, cover and hold” technique and safely evacuating buildings to the outside, where in a real earthquake debris will not be able to fall on anyone.

Practicing earthquake drills also allows authorities to check up on procedures and to see if any supplies are outdated.
